Global welding certification and inspection authority NECIT supports the hard work and dedication of North East charity Northumbria Blood Bikes with the generous donation of a signed Sunderland football and shirt to aid in their fundraising efforts.

Now at the end of their first season since returning to the Premier League, finishing 7th overall and qualifying for their first Europa League since 1973, the Black Cats are currently celebrating one of their most successful seasons in over 50 years. As longstanding Sunderland Association Football Club corporate sponsors, NECIT secured the prestigious goods – a branded football and an iconic red and white football shirt both signed by the current Premiership team – to be raffled as part of a fundraising campaign for Northumbria Blood Bikes. The money raised will go towards NBB’s vital work delivering essential blood and urgent medical supplies, out of hours, between hospitals and other healthcare sites in North East England.

This is the latest of NECIT’s philanthropic endeavours, as the company is committed to supporting its local community through building a network that provides public as well as professional services. Since June 2025, NECIT has spearheaded their own initiative to carry a Community Public Access Defibrillator (cPAD) in every service van on their fleet and at their Durham HQ for use in emergency situations, ensuring access to this lifesaving piece of equipment across the North East.

Calum Watson, Operations Manager, said:

“Beyond our work as a global inspection authority upholding international quality and safety protocols in welding, NECIT is also committed to uplifting our local communities to help ensure a healthier, safer environment in which we can all live. The Northumbria Blood Bikes provide an incredible service that saves countless lives. This donation will go a long way in raising vital funds to help this charity continue its hard work across the North East of England.”
