New Blood Car joins the fleet

Please welcome our new Blood Car to Northumbria Blood Bikes!

Today our second hybrid vehicle, a Toyota Corolla, went into operational service. This vehicle replaces one of our other cars, that we recently retired from the fleet, and we chose to continue our journey into the realms of hybrid vehicles.

Whickham Ladies Group

Thank you to Whickham Ladies Thursday Group who chose Northumbria Blood Bikes as their charity for 2024. This was following a talk delivered to their group. Yesterday they handed over a cheque for £1000. Thank you so much ladies, your support is very much appreciated.

FMT Sample Relay

Yesterday three Blood Bike groups have taken part in a national relay of Fecal Microbial Transplantation (FMT) samples.

Starting with Russell from Shropshire • Staffordshire • Cheshire Blood Bikes who collected the samples from University of Birmingham Microbiome Treatment Centre.  They were relayed with John from Whiteknights Yorkshire Blood Bikes, at Barlborough, who then transported them up to Scotch Corner where our volunteer driver Paul. He then delivered to The Freeman Hospital, in Newcastle.

Thank you HANDS

Our thanks go out to St Columbas United Reformed Church in North Shields, who run a group called Here And Now Doing Something or HANDS for short, after they raised £500 at a coffee morning for our charity.

Business as usual

As the white stuff falls across the region it’s business as usual for our team of volunteers out on the roads. Although our blood bikes have been stood down our blood cars take their place. Just a bit of extra time at the start of the shift to get the vehicles ready for action.
